Where could I get some reference about email function of Doors

Hi all,

These days, I'm focus on the change proposal system of Doors, aim to use the email function, unfortunately the only reference by my hand is the Doors help.htm. I couldn't find some other references.

May someone mail me some references or give me some advices to learn more about the email function of Doors?

My email is
Email: tianxin.xie.hit@gmail.com
or
Email: aven_bice@hotmail.com

Looking for everyone's help, many thanks!

Sincerely, Aven

Today is your lucky day. Just went through this Friday and its working.

Auto-email capability is setup on the Database properties screen. Whereas the dialog is requesting the SMTP Mail Server it really wants the Relay Server. This is not the Microsoft Exchange Server you can get from your account settings in Outlook.

Ask IT for the "... 'relay server', which may be the 'SMTP Mail Server' ... " for you network.

Enter your Relay server and email address in the database properties. Frankly, I'm not sure what that email address is for, since Emails don't originate from it.

Be sure the recieve-emails-option is selected for each user who wants to receive emails from CPS.

Configure each Project's CPS, selecting 'Notify updates by email' button.

I think that feature sends emails to the author of the CP, whenever any change in review or status is made to it.

Using the database properties you can configure DOORS to send emails for each failed login. Enter the info on the first page, then enter user names to receive emails on the Login Policy tab. Those DOORS users must have a correct Email specified.

After a week, turn that off since you cannot stand all the silly emails.

Hey, llandale

On the Database properties screen, I enterd the correct SMTP Mail Server, left the "Mail Account" with blank. Also, I set the correct Email Address for each user. The "receive-emails-option" is selected.

I'm a little abused about your "Configure each Project's CPS, selecting...", I have many projects in my database, should I configure it for everyone, or the target one which the CP occurs?

Up to now, the CP which I made to test Email, I didn't get any Doors Email which send by Doors automaticlly.

Looking forward for your reply!

Sincerely, Aven

I haven't tested, but I'd guess you need to specify the Email account, perhaps yours, in the DB properties. In my ignorance I haven't figured out what that's for ..err.. how its used; but not doubt its required. Someone here will surely let us know how it works.

Go to a project and Tools menu >CPS >Configure. There is an option there that turns on emailing for that project's CPS.

Be sure the user who creates the CP has their Email option flag on in the User properties.

Hey, llandale

I did take your advice with no doubt, however, up to now, the Email system still didn't works, at the same time, I tried many ways, err...the result is upset.

Maybe it's not worth upset enough, cause I found few users have problems with Email or CP system.
